This checklist provides quick safety reminders for operators using the Chicago Pneumatic CPS 385

CFM (CPS 11-12) diesel portable compressor. It must be read in conjunction with the full Operator’s Manual.

• Only trained and authorised personnel may operate the compressor.

• Operate outdoors or in a well ventilated area – exhaust gases are deadly.

• Ensure compressor is on level, stable ground with brakes or chocks applied.

• Inspect hoses, couplings and tools before use – use only rated equipment (12 bar / 175 psi).

• Never use compressed air to clean clothing or skin.

• Refuel with engine stopped – no smoking or ignition sources nearby.

• Keep a fire extinguisher within reach at all times.

• Wear PPE: hearing protection, safety glasses, gloves, steeltoed boots, hard hat.

• Beware of hot engine, exhaust and compressor parts – do not touch during or after operation.

• Never remove guards or tamper with safety devices.

• Depressurise the system before disconnecting hoses or carrying out maintenance.

• Follow proper shutdown: unload air, idle engine, then stop engine.

• Lockout / tagout before service work.

• Check tow bar, brakes, and lights before towing – chock wheels when parked.
